Morocco is advancing further within the worldwide artificial intelligence competition through designs for a significant AI facility close to Casablanca, supported by starting capital totaling approximately $1.2 billion and driven by NVIDIA systems.
The initiative called the Nexus AI Factory began at GITEX Africa Morocco 2026 via a deal between Nexus Core Systems, Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, the Ministry of Investment, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development.
The proposed center aims to function as a massive AI processing node, targeting fifty megawatts of power. NVIDIA Blackwell accelerated systems should comprise a major element within the setup, whereas green electricity from TAQA Morocco will back the initiative.
A New AI Hub Near Casablanca
The initial stage of the project is currently being created in Nouaceur, close to Casablanca.
Based on data from Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition, the first stage involves spending five billion dirhams and turning on sixteen megawatts of compute power plus making about fifty direct positions available.
Another phase will likely bring extra 20 MW, making total planned capacity for initial two phases reach 36 MW through finish of year 2027. These two phases should show combined investment value at 12 billion dirhams plus generate 125 direct employment positions.
The longer- long term vision is much bigger, with the plan aiming at a full capacity of 500 MW.
NVIDIA Technology at the Center
It is unclear if NVIDIA is the only backer for the 1.2 billion dollar venture. Rather, their tech will go into the intended artificial intelligence setup.
In September 2026, NVIDIA stated that the Nexus AI Factory within Morocco utilizes NVIDIA Blackwell accelerated computing and belongs to a broader expansion of AI factories throughout Africa.
The firm has likewise pointed out that Morocco serves as one of the African regions where emerging artificial intelligence foundations are starting to grant regional creators and enterprises entry into vast processing power resources.
This might permit firms, scholars and start-ups within the area to create and launch AI tools nearer to where their information gets produced.
Building Morocco’s AI Economy

This initiative arrives just as Morocco puts into action its wider Morocco AI 2030 plan.
The national plan intends to produce up to 100 billion dirhams in extra GDP worth by 2030, make about 50,000 direct plus indirect work spots, and teach plus verify 200,000 AI experts.
The Nexus AI Factory aims to aid this broader system by merging high-performance computing facilities with a Center of Excellence dedicated to service delivery and skill passing, plus an Innovation Hub built to back fresh AI options.
Why It Matters
This growth might boost Morocco’s standing as a regional tech and AI center linking Africa to Europe plus global markets.
For NVIDIA, the project mirrors the firm’s wider drive to increase availability of fast computing throughout Africa. NVIDIA states they have educated over 85,000 developers on the land via their Deep Learning Institute, following a goal of 100,000 developers by 2024.
Should the Nexus project achieve its intended long-term capacity levels, Morocco might host one of the biggest dedicated artificial intelligence computing systems on the entire continent.
However, the project remains under development, yet the 500 MW number stands for target power levels instead of existing operational computing capability.
For Morocco, the larger narrative is not merely the introduction of NVIDIA equipment. It represents the effort to construct a full AI environment centered on compute systems, green power sources, skill growth and domestic creativity.
